Our client specialises in the production and installation of crane rail systems and parts. Despite being a global market leader, the company relied on outdated, sometimes paper-based processes. It was eager to initiate wide-scale digital transformation. Sigli built both a customer portal and an internal management app. At the same time, we designed overarching digital infrastructure to allow for the fast, efficient implementation of future solutions.
Expanded our client’s customer portal with extensive project management and tracking features.
Developed a mobile app for on-site asset inspectors.
Laid the foundation for a digital ecosystem that integrates external operations, such as sales and marketing, with internal services, such as on-site asset maintenance.

Our client is the global market leader in the production, installation and maintenance of crane rails (tracks along which industrial cranes bearing heavy loads move) and crane rail components.
The company caters to a diverse client base in over 20 countries, from shipbuilders to aluminium smelters. It has been involved in several high-profile projects, including the installation of the rail systems supporting the retractable roof at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
The company was founded on a strong mission, and its vision statement reads, “Our vision as a global market leader is to be the first choice and trusted partner to ensure that your crane runway is installed, operated, monitored and maintained smoothly.”
Like many large engineering companies, our client was reliant on outdated paper-based processes. Digital transformation was a priority, hence the need for an experienced development team that could implement streamlined digital workflows.
Specifically, the customer portal lacked features that would allow for detailed project management and monitoring. And its on-site team was inefficient because it didn’t have access to tailored asset inspection software for use on site.
Along with executing specific development tasks, it was also vital that any dev team that was hired was able to build broader tech infrastructure that would allow for the straightforward implementation of future digital solutions.
Sigli assigned four specialists to the project: a project manager, technical team lead, full-stack software engineer, and mobile software engineer.
Research and analysis of requirements, including third-party dependencies.
Setup of cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure and creation of CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
Development of project management functionality for the customer portal.
Creation of a multi-platform mobile application (Android and iOS) and REST Web API server for reporting crane inspection results and generating reports.
Stabilisation and user testing period, during which we responded to user requests and fixed production bugs.
The team was made up of four AI engineers, three full-stack engineers, three frontend engineers, and two quality assurance specialists, alongside a solutions Architect and Delivery Manager.
The majority of communication between Sigli and client stakeholders was via virtual meetings, with email and messaging apps as “always on” channels.
Sigli used the scrum methodology, with a product owner (PO) in charge of coordinating the team. Standard routines like daily meetings, sprint planning and retrospectives ensured tasks were completed to deadline.
Sigli successfully implemented the new customer portal features and on-site app. Our client saw improved information transparency, documentation consistency, and communication efficiency from the get-go.
Here were the key project outcomes:
Both the customer portal updates and mobile application were delivered according to all specified requirements and launched on schedule.
The enhanced customer portal serves a global client base of 156 active users across 69 separate companies.
The mobile inspection application received exceptionally positive stakeholder feedback and entered company-wide deployment.
The successful launch of the solutions laid a foundation for cross-company digitalisation that would unify our client’s internal operations and customer-facing services. They immediately began planning new solutions.
We developed a specialised document solution for generating comprehensive inspection reports in four different languages and spanning up to 50 pages of technical information.
We overcame the complex challenge of extending existing identity authentication infrastructure, which connects with Microsoft Dynamics 365, thereby allowing for multiple user types.
We were impressed with Sigli’s proposed approach and cost estimation, which led us to select them as our development partner for this initiative.
